Hello World!

Here is my first post..so I guess this is official!

I wanted to talk a little about my blog name: Delighted and Defined. I wanted to pick a name that I thought was meaningful and encouraging to everyone as well as myself.

So lets look at these verses:

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in The Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (ESV)
–> I used to take this verse in the wrong way for a long time, I thought that if I loved God then He would give me everything I ever wanted. Ladies and gentleman, some preach this as the truth, but it is not. What this verse is saying is that when we take delight in The Lord, our hearts are yearning to grow closer to His and our desires are also coming closer to His and in time our desires will BECOME His desires. Maybe these things wont be exactly the most easy to handle or maybe it wont be the best fit in our schedules, but the more we delight in Him, the more our desires become like His because we want to honor our Heavenly Father and please Him. We need to be DELIGHTED in Him!

Psalm 18:19 “He brought me out into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.” (ESV)
–> I love this verse. How crazy is it to think that the God of the Universe delights in us?! When we obey God and surrender our hearts to The Lord, He delights in us. He rescues us from our sin, from our darkness, from the fears of our situations and where we are. When we trust in Him to provide for us and we lay down our life to the One who gave His life in order for us to be reconciled with God, we become God’s child, and He delights in us!

Psalm 139:1-18 “O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you. For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.” (ESV)
–> All of God’s works are wonderful, and God created us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! Its a beautiful thing to know that God knit us together in our mother’s womb, He knows every thought in our mind, He knew our whole life before we were even born and He still loves us. Readers, if we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, we are all set! We dont need anything else to define us, the Almighty God defines us and He is perfect. A perfect God who knows everything about us would and loves us enough to create us! We should feel honored to say that we have been created by a perfect and loving God, and that should be enough for us!

Exodus 19:5 “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” (ESV)
–> When we obey God when He calls on us and keep His promises, He treasures us! We also calls us His possession. I dont know about ya’ll but if I have a possession that I treasure I make sure that nothing gets in the way of me losing that possession. This reminds me of Psalm 23 when the psalmist states, “The Lord is my shepherd..” Shepherds of course take care of their sheep but something else is true of shepherds that I was just taught recently: Shepherds never leave a stray sheep missing. At the end of each day a shepherd calls in his sheep and counts them. If he is missing just one, the shepherd searches and searches for the sheep until he brings the sheep back in with the rest of the flock. That is exactly what I imagine when God calls us His treasured possession, of course He will never want us away from His sight!

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come!” (ESV)
–> I think this verse is so important. When we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts and ask Him to be our Lord and Savior, so many things happen. We then become heirs of God, ambassadors of Christ, and we become a new creation. We are washed in the blood of Jesus and our past sins are forgiven and we are a new creation. We start over and we turn our hearts to Jesus and ask Him to help us to live the life He has called us to and to obey His commandments. We dont need to be ashamed of our past sins or the way we lived before accepting Him, because we are made new through the blood of Jesus! Amen!

Okay friends, that’s my spiel on why I chose to call my blog Delighted and Defined. We are delighted in by The King, and we need to be delighting in Him too! We are defined by the one and only perfect God who created us and this world and said that it was good! We dont need to turn to the possessions of this world to find ourselves, we have already been found in Him!

I encourage all readers to rest in this truth, His truth, this week and share it! God’s words and promises are living and true!
Thanks for reading!
