March Madness

Yes, March Madness because its only appropriate for me to title a post about my month of March this way, but also, it has been a month full of madness.

Do you fill out the basketball brackets with friends and family each year? I do! I've got three filled out this year between different family members and groups of friends. I don't really know much about basketball at all but its fun to pick out teams to win and I always get excited if I get some guesses right. The teams that I picked to win it are still in the tournament so thats good at least!

This month has come with its own hardships, but I’ve been reminded more than ever the importance of community and the benefits of cultivating deep friendships.
This month I am so thankful for our church and lifegroup who have poured so much time into loving me and my family whether it’s been through prayer, fasting, encouragement, babysitting, or just checking in.
There are seasons of life where we are in the thick of it, feeling like we…

Crab and Asparagus Soup

Okay, I guess last week I was on a seafood roll but it was the best decision ever.

I know, I know, when you look at the title of this recipe you probably think it sounds does, but I was really intrigued by this recipe!

And I'm going to make it for all my friends.
Its a new staple.

I feel like soup is a hit or miss thing sometimes, you gotta find your go-tos....this is it my friends.

Its amazing with bread, as all soup is. Zach picked some up from the store, sauteed some butter and garlic and then poured it over the bread, topped it with cheese, and baked it. He is a genius.

This is so good that I have already planned the next time I am going to make it :)

Salmon Burgers with Crispy Sweet Potato Fries!

A week or so ago it was soooo beautiful and sunny outside, it really felt like spring!
And when the weather is warmed, I automatically think of burgers on the grill.

Well, I didn't grill these, and they aren't your typical burgers, but they sure did put me in the spirit of spring!

To make these salmon burgers even more delicious, I sandwiched them in pretzel buns, smothered some sundried tomato pesto that I found at the store, and toped with sliced avocado.
And what is a healthy burger without sweet potato fries? So I made those too :)

I hope you all try this recipe! Its fun to do something different with salmon for a change!!

Hope Is Alive Today

I've decided that it would be appropriate for me to call this month of March, Muffin Madness.

I had some yummy blueberries that needed to be used up, so I've got a healthy breakfast muffin for you, and I wanted to share with you all something that a friend said a few days ago while praying for my husband and I. His words have been mulling around in my brain ever since, and I think was he said will stay in my heart forever. This post is really just my thoughts in response to what our friend said to us, and I really needed to hear these words more than anything.  -

That when Jesus was put to death on the cross, his family, friends, and disciples were disappointed and discouraged. They thought that they weren’t going to see the other side. What they had put their hope in, wasn’t what they thought it was going to be. How could The Messiah, The Savior of the World, die on the cross? They didn’t get their miracle.

But we know what happens.

Three days later He rose. He was alive. He is …

When It Rains

When it rains
Its pounding, pounding in my head
Every thought runs wild - looking for shelter, looking to take root
Don't let it stay, God
Just let it rain
Wash it away

When it rains
Its starts slow, then comes faster, faster
I need to catch it before it drags me down
Don't pull me under - God, keep me still
Just let it rain
Wash it away

When it rains
Like ivy, deceptions push their way in
Take every thought captive, lock it up, deep down
Tear my walls down - God, reveal my heart
Just let it rain
Wash it away

When it rains
Its cold, but comes out clean
Gently wipe each stain, I can handle the pain
Faithful still, You are until the end
Just let it rain
Wash it away

When it rains
Through the darkness, Your dawning light
My eyes are open, You show me the newness of life
Your careful hand has seen me through
When You reign
Everything is washed away
